Nearly 40 EdUHK students from various programmes and 15 older adults from the Salvation Army Tai Po Integrated Services for Senior Citizens participated in Phase 2.
This project includes cultural interest groups and guided-tour skills training activities.
Cultural interest groups
The first two sessions focused on building relationships between the EdUHK students and the elderly through interactive games and facilitated exchanges. These sessions also included introductions to EdUHK and the Elderly Centre, as well as participant self-introductions.
In the remaining five sessions, the participants took part in the following activities. The elderly taught EdUHK students Chinese ink painting, resin art activities, and balloon twisting. The EdUHK students taught elderly exercise safety, resistance-band activities, and plush flower crafting.

Guided Tour Training
Guided Tour Training commenced with the elderly who have professional guided tour qualifications, to introduce the guided tour techniques and presentation skills. The EdUHK students and the elderly planned the guided touritineraries together according to the visiting sites selected by the three participating schools. They delivered group presentations during class sessions, followed by professional feedback from the experienced guided-tour trainers.
Subsequently, EdUHK students, elderly, project consultants, trainers, and the project team from EdUHK conducted on-site visits to each location in order to ensure that activities could be delivered safely and smoothly, and that the intended learning outcomes could be achieved.
